JD3 was formed by three musicians who met through other jazz bands. Their original stye of music paid tribute to the Bill Evans Trio, but later evolved through influences like Dave Holland, Kenny Werner, and Pablo Held. Now, JD3 strives for a more modern sound akin to the music of Phronesis, The Bad Plus, and Trio Elf. Currently JD3 is playing in speakeasy s, restaurants, jazz clubs, and private events in the Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey areas. The band is also looking to bring their modern jazz sound to local Jazz Festivals in the upcoming year.
Beginning at an early age, Edward connected with music on a deeper level than most people. As a kid, he knew he wanted to become a musician, but after receiving his music degree he became a recording engineer while suppressing his need to be more creative. For over a decade he was exposed to very unusual and eclectic styles of music. Then his whole life changed. He was in a bad accident which caused sever head trauma and nearly took his life. On the long road to recovery, Edward used the drums to help rehabilitate his mind and motor skills. It was through this process, he began allowing the suppressed creativity to come forward and allow itself to be discovered again. Now, this creative music making process brings him so much joy, he hopes the joy is contagious to all the people that listen. He believes through more abstract expression, rather than literal words, comes a richer understanding.

His diverse musical background is rooted in classical training, but he eventually broke ranks with Mozart and Bach before entering high school to the chagrin of his longtime piano instructor. The list of those whose music has had an influence on his unique style, no matter how profound, reads like a "Who's Who" in the jazz, R&B, and soft rock categories. Joe has performed in nearly every setting imaginable from intimate house parties to pit orchestras, dive bars to elegant country clubs, rock bands to jazz combos. Well-known in jazz circles throughout the area, Joe has been invited back repeatedly to many select venues.
